A PLAN FOR 2015
A good Christian is a disciple. A disciple simply means a student.
Active learning is what produces good Christianity out of your life. No matter how good you think you are, and no matter how well you have done in the past, if you are not actively learning, then you are degenerating, howbeit slowly.
We are often busy working, sometimes even supposedly for God, that we neglect the one thing needful. Working doesn't make us what God wants us to be; it is learning that does that.
Remember the story of Mary and Martha in their home as the Lord Jesus came visiting.
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me."
But the Lord said to her, "My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:38-42
Learning
is the primary duty of the disciple. Working properly in life and for God is a
product of having the ears of a disciple.
“My son,” He says, “attend to My words.”
We must pay attention.
We must attend to reading.
We must attend to study of the word.
We must attend to listening to messages.
That's our life.
Oh, that indeed is our life.
There is medicine in it.
There is prosperity in it.
Take the time.
Invest the money.
Forgo the distractions (no business or job should prevent you from being a true disciple).
Let your blessing not become your distraction from your spring of life.
Thank God for holidays, thank God for big screen TVs. But when last did you take a holiday just to hear and to study. What time have you set aside weekly? What do you watch on the screens?
You take the kids to the movies and on holidays, but have you taken your wife to a week-long seminar to learn the word of God?
Discipleship is your life. Make it your priority in 2015.
